The Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Department offers a number of Youth Programs, some offered directly by the department, including Fun In The Sun, Saturday Junior Basketball, and the Hershey Track Meet, and various Youth Sports Programs run by volunteers.


Fun In The Sun



The Fun In The Sun program is a summer day camp for Manchester residents ages 6 - 12.

 

Registration Date and Requirements:
Registration Date: Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 8:00 AM    

 

Must have birth certificate to register.

 

Youngsters MUST be 6 (Six) years of age to register.


                                Registration will take place at the site your child will attend.                                     

 

 Registration will continue throughout the six weeks provided space is available at each site.

 

                                 

 Program Locations: JFK Memorial Coliseum, Livingston Park (Dorr's Pond House), Piscataquog River Park

Program Start Date:   Friday, July 6, 2012

 Program Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Program End Date: August 16, 2012

  • local field trips
  • special events days such as MTV day or Christmas in July

Saturday Junior Basketball


Saturday Junior Basketball is available to boys and girls who reside in Manchester. The program runs on Saturdays at Beech Street School from December to March. There is no charge for this program and applications can be picked up at the school on Saturdays only while the program is running.  Start day for 2012/2013 season TBD.   This is not a basketball league with teams and standings it is simply a program that allows certain age groups  an hour and a half in the gym to shoot around or play pick up games.  The age breakdwon is as follows:


Age Group Time
7 - 8 year olds 9:00 am - 10:30 am
9 - 10 year olds 10:30 am - noon
11 - 12 year olds 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
13 years old - High School 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Hershey Track Meet


The Hershey track meet is for kids age 9-14 years old as of December 31st of the current year. There is no residency requirement providing that your town does not offer a meet.

Tryouts for the 2012 meet will be held on Tuesday, June 5th, at Livingston Track. Registration is at 5:30 PM, with the actual meet beginning at 6:00 PM.

Please be aware, our regional meet  has moved to Lebanon, NH and will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012. Again this year, other than athletes anyone coming to watch the event both regional and state will be charged $1.00.

Summer Fun Runs

The Summer Fun Runs will run every Thursday beginning 2012 Dates TBDat the Gatsas Athletic Complex in Livingston Park. Registration begins at 5:15 PM, with events beginning at 6:00 PM.

Events include:

Volunteers run the following youth sports program in the City:

  • Junior Deb Softball

Fall
