Information on Spraying

Spraying for Mosquito Control

The Manchester Health Department works with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services to decide if and when mosquito spraying is needed.

Spraying is not routine. It may be considered when:

  • There is strong evidence of increased mosquito-borne disease risk in our area

If spraying is needed:

  • Only specific city-owned locations are treated
  • A licensed contractor applies the pesticides
  • The Health Department uses a special state permit that allows spraying during public health emergencies
  • The public is notified ahead of time with the date, time, and location of spraying
  • Information about the pesticides used is shared with the public

You can also review the New Hampshire Arboviral Illness Surveillance, Prevention, and Response Plan for more details on how the state responds to arboviral risk.
