The purpose of this Ordinance is to encourage security alarm users and alarm businesses (sales, installation, customer service, and/or monitoring) to maintain the operational reliability and the proper use of alarm systems in limiting unnecessary police emergency responses to false alarms.
An alarm permit is required for all security alarm users in the City of Manchester. Alarms that require a permit include burglary, robbery and panic systems that may be monitored at an outside location or simply utilize an audible warning.
As of October 28, 2020, the Manchester Police Department has partnered with Crywolf from CentralSquare Technologies to provide enhanced security alarm permit services including
- alarm systems registration
- obtaining annual alarm system permits
- paying fees and fines
- account information updates, and
- viewing false alarm incidents
