The purpose of this Ordinance is to encourage security alarm users and alarm businesses (sales, installation, customer service, and/or monitoring) to maintain the operational reliability and the proper use of alarm systems in limiting unnecessary police emergency responses to false alarms.
An alarm permit is required for all security alarm users in the City of Manchester. Alarms that require a permit include burglary, robbery and panic systems that may be monitored at an outside location or simply utilize an audible warning.
Alarm Permit Applications may be downloaded below or obtained at the Ordinance Violations Bureau. The cost is $30.00 for either an initial or renewal application.
A residential alarm user over the age of 65 who is the primary resident of a dwelling is not required to submit the permit fee with the application.
Each permit expires on June 30 of each year, regardless of when the permit is obtained. Alarm calls received by the Manchester Police Department from non-permitted alarm systems are assessed a $100.00 fee in addition to the $30.00 permit fee.
