Communicable Disease Control

Introduction

Historically, communicable disease control has been the very foundation of public health interventions. Once anticipated to be eliminated as a public health threat, emerging and reemerging pathogens remain at the forefront of the public health mission. The early forecast for the eradication of communicable diseases did not consider the distinct ability of pathogens to change, adapt and develop resistance to antibiotics. The Manchester Health Department Community Health Division provides prompt investigations and implements control measure, if applicable, for all reportable diseases.
