Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester was established in 1966 as a full affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. In 2004, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America celebrated its 100th Anniversary, making the One-to-One mentoring programs of this organization the best-established and most documented for successful results.

CASA of New Hampshire

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Hampshire is a nonprofit that recruits, trains, and supports community volunteers to serve as advocates for abused or neglected children throughout the state. CASA volunteer advocates get to know a child and the important people in that child’s life to provide vital information to help a judge make decisions based on the best interests of the child.

CASA advocates truly change a child’s story.

Families in Transition

You can help end homelessness in your own community by joining the volunteer family at Families in Transition! Our mission is to provide safe, affordable housing and comprehensive social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect. Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter

Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization that provides critical medical care, food, shelter, and comfort to the stray and homeless animals of Manchester, NH. FMAS operates the Manchester Animal Shelter located at 490 Dunbarton Road. 

Granite State YMCA

Volunteers are an important part of the Y’s success in meeting the needs of the kids, adults, and families who live in our community. The Granite YMCA creates a community where all are welcome. The Y builds a healthy spirit, mind and body in children, individuals, and families while instilling the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility through our practices and programs.

Greater Manchester Medical Reserve Corps

The GMMRC was established in 2008 to improve the health and safety of communities within the Greater Manchester Public Health Region (Auburn, Bedford, Candia, Deerfield, Goffstown, Hooksett, Manchester and New Boston) by preparing for and responding to emergencies and promoting healthy living throughout the year. GMMRC volunteers offer their skills and expertise during emergencies as well as community events. Members are not required to live or work in the Greater Manchester Public Health Region, as long as they are willing to participate in activities within the region.

Manchester Boys and Girls Club

Manchester Boys Club was incorporated in 1907 and became the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester in 1983. From its meager beginnings as reading and recreation rooms, the Club has grown to include the main Clubhouse at 555 Union Street, and two school-based after school sites at Jewett Street and Highland Goffe’s Falls Elementary Schools, as well as their Camp Foster summer day camp facility located in Bedford. 

Manchester Public Television Services, Inc

Manchester Public Television is a 501c3 organization that was formed on July 1, 2010 and is available on Comcast cable.

New Hampshire Food Bank

NH Food Bank, a program of NH Catholic Charities, is a non-profit that distributes over 4 million pounds of food to 350 different agencies. Salvage donated food, special events, gleaning, and many more volunteer opportunities can be found at the Food Bank. For more information please contact the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers are also needed for the Cooking Matters program.

ProLiteracy Program at the Manchester City Library

The Manchester City Library hosts offices for the Learn to Read/ProLiteracy America program. They maintain office hours on Tuesday and by Appointment.

Southern New Hampshire Services Inc.

Help someone work towards one of life’s greatest treasures: An Education! Southern New Hampshire Services - Manchester Adult Learner Services Program is recruiting volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring in basic literacy, ESL, citizenship, computer literacy and HiSET preparation. Materials and training will be provided. This is a flexible and ongoing opportunity.
