About the Employer Advisory Council (EAC)
The Employer Advisory Council (EAC) is a cross-sector coalition of Manchester-area employers, educators, and workforce professionals committed to preparing local youth—especially those from underserved communities—for success in the 21st-century workforce.
Formed in 2023, the EAC ensures that youth programs reflect:
- Real-time industry expectations
- Regional hiring trends
- The soft skills most valued by employers
Key goals of the EAC Include:
- Identifying essential workforce skills across key sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, education, hospitality, trades, government, and nonprofit
- Advising on curriculum and tools that help youth-serving organizations teach those skills in relevant, inclusive ways
- Expanding access to mentorship, job shadowing, internships, and employment opportunities
- Promoting equity for underserved and disconnected youth ages 16–24
EAC members have:
- Co-developed the Workforce Competency Framework
- Piloted and reviewed youth-ready lesson plans
- Provided employer insights to shape content and real-world alignment
Whether through guest speaking, site tours, mock interviews, or training design, the EAC bridges the gap between the classroom and the workplace—empowering the next generation of Manchester’s workforce.
