The Manchester City Library is thrilled to host Michael Barson Thursday July 23, 2026 at 6PM in the Auditorium. This program features a fascinating look at historic Pop Culture. He will also discuss his book, The Red Menace which covers the history of how America's fear of Communist incursions from the 1940s through the 1960s was reflected in our popular culture— movies, television shows, radio programs, books, comic books, and even children's games. Michael Barson has a Master's degree in Popular Culture and a PhD in American Culture and has written extensively on popular culture in his 12 other books. Michael explored the History of the American Teen in his illustrated book Teenage Confidential. For questions, call Nic at 603-624-6550 x7620 or email nyoung3@manchesternh.gov
