Exemptions and Credits

The following is a breakdown for the various property tax exemptions. Please select the appropriate exemption or credit from the list provided for a detailed description.

Applications can be obtained at the Assessors Office, Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

If you have an Elderly Exemption and/or Veterans Credit and selling or moving to a new home, please advise this office as we will want to move the information and apply the exemption/credit to the correct property.

Existing exemptions for Veterans, Blind, Elderly and Permanently Disabled will be continued automatically and are subject to an annual re-qualification or audit.

Elderly Exemptions:
Age Groups:
65-74 years of age are allowed $109,500 assessed value deducted from total assessed value.
75-79 years of age are allowed $148,500 assessed value deducted from total assessed value.
80 years of age are allowed $195,500 assessed value deducted from total assessed value.

Tax Deferral:
The total of tax deferrals on a particular property shall not be more than eighty five percent (85%) of its assessed value.

Blind Exemption:
Blind are allowed $135,500 assessed value deducted from total assessed value.

Disabled Exemption:
Disabled are allowed $109,500 assessed value deducted from total assessed value.

Veterans Credit:
Veterans are allowed a $400.00 credit towards the total taxes due.

Disabled Veterans Credit:
Disabled veterans are allowed a $1,600.00 credit towards the total taxes due.
