West High Boiler Replacement

West High School Boiler Replacement
For years West High School has been heated by two massive steam boilers located in the basement of the school. These boilers were installed in the 1966 and worked well for many years. However, in recent years maintenance costs had risen to as much as $20,000 annually and they were no longer efficient by today’s standards.
In early 2010  a project was approved to replace the boilers with new super efficient units rated at 95% with greater operating flexibility. The project began in June and completed in September. The total cost of the project was just over $600,000 which was completely funded by federal money through the American Revitalization and Reinvestment Act.
The results are impressive with a 16%+ percent reduction in natural gas use at West high School  thru April of 2011 vs. a year ago despite a much colder winter this year.
