The week leading up to the Christmas holiday is always one of excitement for both young and old. Children look forward to gift-giving and holiday traditions, and adults revel in holiday festivities with friends, families and co-workers. This week is a time to be merry, and a time to look around our lives and feel blessed for the gifts we have been given. I am once again blessed this year to be able to spend this time with my family, and greatly look forward to watching my children’s excitement Christmas morning.

Throughout the holiday season here in Manchester we see the spirit of our community in more ways than one. From a tremendous turnout at the annual downtown Christmas Parade, to the great support of area charities that all need our help to make Christmas magical for those less fortunate.< Read More »

This week I had the great pleasure to be a part of the 17th Annual WAAF Walk and Rock for Change. This creative event involves WAAF’s morning radio personalities walking throughout communities in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. This year, hosts will be walking from Manchester, New Hampshire to Brighton, Massachusetts, all in an effort to raise awareness for area food banks.

It was a pleasure to be an on-air guest of the Hill-Man Morning Show this past Wednesday, broadcasting from the Red Arrow Diner here in Manchester. I joined morning hosts Spaz and Lyndon Byers and enjoyed a great morning helping to promote the event, as well as the importance of donations for the New Hampshire Food Bank.

This week we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, and begin the holiday season that will span the rest of November and the month of December. While we all are eager to spend time with family and friends, a tradition that always seems special around the holidays in particular, it is important each year to come together to help our community’s less fortunate. In Manchester, we are lucky to have many wonderful organizations doing great charity work throughout this season, and ensuring the Manchester individuals and families have a joyful holiday season.

Each year on November 11, Americans come together to observe Veteran’s Day, and honor all those who have served in our armed forces. Tomorrow, Manchester residents will unite to celebrate Veteran’s Day and pay tribute to the residents of our city and region who have given their service and sacrifice to make our country the great nation it is today.
In Manchester, our annual Veteran’s Day Parade will commence at 11am and will finish at Veteran’s Park where a formal ceremony will take place. This year I am especially pleased that our newly constructed World War II Memorial will stand proudly for all to see at tomorro Read More »

Following the results of yesterdays municipal elections here in Manchester, I would like to congratulate Ted Gatsas on his victory in his race for Mayor. Ted ran a strong campaign on the issues facing Manchester residents, and his hard work certainly warranted his victory. His experience and knowledge as both an Alderman in the city and a State Senator will surely translate to success in the Mayor’s Office.

On Tuesday November 3, Manchester residents will go to the polls to vote on their choices for municipal candidates and other initiatives on the ballot this fall. It is my hope that all registered voters have the desire and the ability on Tuesday to visit the polls and let your voice be heard.
I would like to thank all those candidates who had the courage to put their name on the ballot this fall, not only for those who moved on to the November election, but those who were involved in the September primary election as well. It takes a great deal of courage to open up ones convictions and vision to others, and each c Read More »

Over the past few months, many state and federal lawmakers have begun to craft the argument that New Hampshire and the country as a whole are headed for economic recovery. However, state and local employment numbers point to the fact that New Hampshire families continue to have difficulties maintaining and/or finding work. While politicians and their allies portray our state and local economies as recovering, a brief scan of the numbers show that we are still suffering from the recession.
Lawmakers point to the impact of the alleged stimulus plan and claim that these federa Read More »

Throughout the coming months, as many have seen through stories in the media, the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is asking for help from the public. Jet Blue Airlines’ website features a tool that allows the public to ‘tell them where to jet’, letting the public express their desire to see Jet Blue Airlines at their local airport. We are hoping that many in our community come out to support Jet Blue coming to Manchester.
The Manchester-Boston Regional Airport has helped to put our city on the map as a travel destination for both business and leisure. It has offered those from northern New England a viable alternative to Logan Airport in Bost Read More »

This past Saturday, volunteers from throughout the state traveled to Manchester to help build, clear and maintain the Rockingham Trail system, a trail network that cuts through much of Manchester and our neighboring towns to the east as it leads towards the seacoast. The Rockingham trail is just one of many trail networks that Manchester has been creating and maintaining, and it will certainly become an important link to many great villages, communities and regions outside our city.

First and foremost, I would like to thank those who worked diligently to organize and carry-out this tremendous day of service. Ma ... Read More »

Throughout the past year, many cities and states have seen economic engines slow down. We have seen the decline of the economy both on the local and national scale, and it has been easy at times to let this wave of negative sentiment for the state of our economy root itself in our minds.
