What is an ELO?
An ELO is a project-based personalized program that allows a Manchester high school student to:
- Earn credit towards graduation outside of the classroom.
- Acquire "real world" experience in a subject or job that is of interest.
- Make up credit for a course you have failed.
- Earn course credit for acquiring skills and knowledge from an existing job.
What do I have to do for ELO credit?
- You will work with certified school personnel as well as a community partner who together will help guide the ELO experience.
- The student will meet with the community partner on a regular basis and keep a weekly journal of his/her progress.
- ELOs require that a student submits a final project which provides evidence of learning.
- Students will also present what they have learned to a small group at the conclusion of the ELO.

How do I get started?
Students can see their ELO coordinator, guidance counselor, teacher, or sign up independently during course registration. The next part of the process involves filling out an application form and meeting with the ELO coordinator to discuss:
- A subject or topic that the student would like to investigate further.
- Matching the student with a teacher who will oversee the ELO.
- Finding an appropriate community partner who will provide him/her with access to his/her field of interest.
- Putting together a learning plan that works for the student and earn him/her a credit.
