Central NEASC Reaccredition
Manchester High School Central has been a fully-accredited member of
the New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
since the founding of the organization. As such, Central agrees to
participate in a reaccreditation process every ten years. This
requires an intensive self-examination based on established standards
for accreditation.
Every faculty member and administrator participates in at least one
standards committee. Parents and students are also represented on the
committees. Each of the seven committees is charged with completing
an 8-12 page document, a one page executive summary, an assessment of
how the school adheres to each standard and a list of strengths and
weaknesses for each standard. There is also a steering committee that organizes
the activities of the committees and over sees the entire NEASC process at Central.
Central has established 21st Century Learning Expectations as well as
rubrics for each of the expectations which are used school-wide, in
all courses. They are: Communication (Reading, Writing, Speaking and
Listening, Utilizing Technology), Critical Thinking/Problem Solving,
and Social and Civic Expectations.
While Central’s self-reflection is on-going, the NEASC Committee for
Reaccreditation is scheduled to visit Central on October 27, 28, 29,
30, 2013, at which time they will reach a conclusion regarding our
status.
