Dear Wilson School Families,

Welcome to the Henry Wilson Elementary School and Community Center website and to the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year.   Wilson School was established as a neighborhood school 115 years ago and we are pleased to preserve the legacy of providing quality educational opportunities for this community. 

This school year will be filled with excitement, opportunities, and challenges for all that are a part of Wilson School. Six elementary schools in Manchester including Wilson, are working with the America's Choice School Design team to increase our instructional knowledge. Students benefit from the enriched, researched-based instruction and modeling that is happening at our school. We continue to provide excellent math instruction using the Every Day Math program that was introduced two years ago. Parents can find out more about EM online by following the link under Activities above.

As always, Wilson has many programs for our diverse student body. Please come in to school or contact the office to find out more about our English Language Learners programs, After School programs, athletics and tutoring opportunities.

We invite all of our parents and family members to attend our monthly PIE meetings. These Partners in Education meetings are important. They provide families with information about Wilson School events, and gives parents an opportunity to share their concerns as well as volunteer their time. Notices for meetings will be sent home and will be available on our website.

This year we are in the implementation stage of restructuring at our school because we have not made adequate yearly progress as determined by NECAP testing in the area of Reading for 5 years. We need your support as we move forward with our restructuring plan. Please stay involved with your child's education by keeping in touch with the teacher. Support your child's progress by encouraging the completion of homework and scheduling time for reading at home every day. Be a regular member of our parent group, participate in our events, and attend our improvement meetings and special programs.
