Weston School Library Media Program
It is the mission of the Weston School Library to ensure that all students and staff are effective users of information for the purposes of instruction, research, and for personal growth. Our goals are to provide instruction in information literacy skills, to offer resources that expand student knowledge of the curriculum and meet the personal interest needs of the school community,
and to encourage values of literacy and lifelong learning.
Accessing ebooks
The Weston School Library now has a few titles available in ebook format. We are excited to try out ebooks as a way to make reading more accessible for our Weston families. We will be starting out with just a few titles and adding more if it seems to be a success. To access Weston Library's online book shelf, please use the following link, wbb04416.follettshelf.com When you arrive at the site, you will need to enter your Weston School username and password. You will be able to view the books online only at this time. This allows more access by more people. When you log in and select your book, it will be available to you online until you close the book or until you log out of the shelf. If your computer is inactive for 15 minutes, you will automatically be logged out. Books are available for the next patron about 15 minutes after the last person closes the book or is logged out. We hope that you will find the site easy to use and that you will enjoy your reading experience.
General Library Policies
The library at Weston school contains a collection of books, magazines, and videos for student and teacher use. All students visit the library on a weekly basis. During their library time, students receive instruction in library and information skills and are introduced to a wide variety of reading materials to fit their curricular and personal interest needs.
During their weekly library class, students have the opportunity to select books for check-out. Books can be checked out from the library for a period of one week. Students in grades 3-5 have the privilege of taking their checked-out books home, while students in grades K-2 are asked to keep their books at school. Students are allowed to renew items if they have not been requested by another individual. When a book is not returned to the library, students receive an overdue notice with a request for return of the item or payment of a replacement cost, as is noted in the Weston Student Handbook.
Betsy Corradino has been the Weston Elementary School Library Media Specialist since 2007. The library has openings for parent volunteers. Parents or grandparents who are interested in volunteering can do so through the Weston Parent Teacher Organization.
