From the Principal’s Desk: January at Jewett Street School
URGENT: The stomach virus is making it's way through the building. If your child is experiencing stomach ailments such as vomiting and diarrhea please be sure to keep them home. Also, please make sure you advise your children to wash their hands with hand sanitizer as often as they can. The hand sanitizer will help to prevent the spread of the germs. Thank you for help in this matter.

I hope all of you enjoyed a safe and happy holiday. The cold weather has arrived. Please make sure your students are dressed appropriately for the weather. We do send the students outside if it is 20 degrees or higher. If your child does not have the required clothing to stay warm, we will not let them go outside. We have several winter coats, hats, gloves, boots, etc. If you need some items to help this winter, feel free to give us a call and we will set you up.
All the students are continuing to work towards the Million Word Challenge! We are challenging all students to try and read a million words are their own. We need your help. Please make sure you sign your child's reading log. These reading logs are used to document how many books/words they have read. Each time they turn in a reading log they are adding to their total to try and reach a million words. We are and will continue to recognize all the students that are making an effort to reach this goal. We will have a recognition ceremony this month. Books that you read with your children can be put on the log, so read, read, read. I appreciate your support in this effort.
