SES Absence Policy
Attendance at SES tutoring sessions is very important for two main reasons:
1. The more consistently your child attends tutoring, the better the results!
2. There are limited funds for tutoring, and we want to pay for tutoring sessions that are actually taking place.
In an effort to ensure that Federal Dollars are going to pay for actual tutoring sessions and academic help for students, the Manchester School District has created an Absence Policy for SES Tutoring.
An unexcused absence is defined as a tutoring session that the district is charged for but for which the student did not attend. This occurs when the Provider did not have sufficient notice that a student would be absent. Many providers require families to call by a specific time or with sufficient notice prior to the tutoring session. Whether the district is charged for a cancelled session is determined by each individual provider, so it is important to check with your child’s provider for exact parameters regarding what will be considered an unexcused absences.
When the school district has been charged for 3 unexcused absences (sessions when the student was not present) the child will automatically be removed from SES services. There is NO appeal process at the district level. In order to avoid misunderstandings, it is important that you discuss each absences with your child's provider.
