Manchester Police Officers were called to the Catholic Medical Center at about 9:30 pm Friday for a reported Domestic argument in the parking lot. When they arrived, they found 22 year old Benjamin Carter arguing with a CMC security officer outside of the Emergency room. Carter was bleeding from his arm and eventually agreed to go into the ER for treatment. Witnesses at the hospital informed the officers that Carter had twice punched his girlfriend in the face during the dispute in the parking lot, so the officers entered the ER in order to continue their investigation.
Without warning, Benjamin Carter suddenly began screaming at emergency room staff, then attacked two police officers who were standing nearby. Other police and security officers responded to assist and following a lengthy struggle and the deployment of pepper spray, Carter was eventually taken into custody. When all was said and done, one police officer was injured and had to be treated by CMC medical staff, emergency room equipment had been damaged, and suspect Carter had to be transported to the Elliot hospital for minor injuries suffered during his arrest.
