On 03-25-09 at approximately 8:15pm Manchester Police Officers responded to 71 Bow St. for a dog bite complaint. The victim was identified as Mary Tate, age 78, of that address. Her son, Scott Tate and his wife, Dawn Layne are visiting from California and they brought along their pitbul, "Chipolte". Ms. Layne and Mr. Tate stated that Chipolte was a rescue dog and they have had him for four years and stated that he has "nipped" people in the past but never bitten anyone.

The incident happened when the dog was free in the basement. Ms. Tate opened the basement door and Chipolte lunged at her and latched on to her right leg. Ms. Layne had to pry the dog off Ms. Tate’s leg.

Ms. Tate was transported by ambulance to the Elliot hospital where she was being evaluated for her injuries. The owners of he dog voluntarily relinquished custody of the dog to the Manchester Police Animal Control Officer.
