CITIZEN’S POLICE ACADEMY

The Manchester Police Department will be holding its 14th session of the CITIZEN’S POLICE ACADEMY. The class is scheduled to begin September 30, 2009. All classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm at the Manchester Police Department located at 351 Chestnut St., Manchester NH.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is a ten (10) week program designed to inform residents about the role of this agency in our community. The program consists of a classroom format with some limited participation, if you so choose, and the opportunity to go on a ride-along with a Manchester police officer.

Upon acceptance into the program, you can expect an informative session examining all of the duties of the Manchester Police Department. Additionally, you will be exposed to the glamour and excitement you associate with police work, along with the processes that are less glamorous but vital to the day to day operations of this agency.

On 08-26-09 at approximately 5:50 PM, Manchester Police responded to the area of Bridge St, just west of Mammoth Rd for an accident.  On arrival, they determined that a motorcycle had collided with an SUV on Bridge St, in front of Trinity High School.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Robert Gagnon, 62, 320 Spruce St, Manchester, was traveling westerly on Bridge St from the area of Mammoth Rd when it crossed into the eastbound lane, colliding with a Nissan Pathfinder, operated by Tammy Wason, 38, 35 Batchelder Ave, Raymond, traveling easterly on Bridge St.

Gagnon sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Elliot Hospital for treatment.   His injuries do not appear to be life threatening at this time.  Wason was not injured.

Based on initial information gathered at the scene, it appears that neither speed nor alcohol were factors in this crash.  The Manchester Police Traffic Division continues to investigate the  accident.

Lt. Tessier/Traffic Division
