Police and Fire units responded to three separate fires within a two hour period overnight. On Friday 05/29/09 at 1130 PM units responded to Budd Foods at Somerville and Lincoln St. and discovered two delivery trailers burning. The trailers were parked against the building and caused damage to the exterior of the building.

On 05-29-09 at approximately 8:40pm, Manchester Police Officers responded to the Subway Restaurant at 1000 Elm St. for a report of an attempted Robbery. The employees reported that the suspect came into the restaurant and told one of the clerks to open the cash register, when she refused the suspect grabbed her and pulled out a pair of scissors out and again demanded the money. She struggled with the suspect and he left the restaurant. No one was injured and the suspect did not get any money.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 40’s, with a goatee. He was described as heavy set and approximately 6’0” tall. He was wearing a baseball hat, possibly a Red Sox hat, a dark shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and sunglasses. Anyone with information is asked to call the Manchester Police Department at 668-8711, Detective Division, or Manchester Crimeline at 624-4040.

On May 29, 2009 at approximately 2025 hours Officer Jeff Kelley and Trooper Mike Berntsen, who are assigned to the Manchester Police and New Hampshire State Police Gang Unit.  Both officers were sent to the area of Southside Jr. High and memorial High School for vehicles that had gone out onto the school field and were driving on them.

     On May 13, 2009 the Manchester Police Department again conducted Alcohol Compliance checks of each retail store that sells alcohol.  In an effort to maintain retail compliance and prevent minors from obtaining and possessing alcohol, officers went to over 115 stores using an underage buyer.  Two sales clerks were summonsed to Manchester District Court for selling to the underage buyer.  Richdale Convenience Store located at 90 Bridge St. and Rite Aid Pharmacy located at 1631 Elm St. both sold alcohol in violation of the Prohibited Sales law.

On 05/27/09 at 400 AM officers were dispatched to Jillian's Billiard Club on Phillippe Cote St.  after an employee inside the business discovered a male subject attempting to forcibly break into the establishment through a window.

Chief David Mara has announced that he is hosting a Manchester Summer Community Meeting on June 3 at 6:00 PM at the MPAL/Officer Michael Briggs Community Center located at the corner of Lake Avenue and Beech Street. 

 

Present for the meeting will be Assistant Chief Gary Simmons and six Captains, each of whom manage the six divisions at the Manchester Police Department.  They are Captain Gerald Lessard of Investigations, Captain James Kinney of Professional Standards and Legal Division, Captain Fred Roach of Administration,  Captain Richard Reilly of Community Policing,  Captain Kevin Kelley of the Special Investigations Division, and Captain John Hopkins of the Patrol Division.

On 05/25/09 at 850 AM officers responded to 560 Hall St. for a report of an assault. Upon arriving they spoke with a female victim who reported she was struck in the face by a male subject she had met the night before. She told officers they argued over a cell phone before the male struck her in the face causing a minor injury to her mouth.
