On January 29, 2009 at 12:51 AM Officers responded to 297 S. Willow St – Holy Smokes Cigar House for an alarm. Officer Mathew Winn arrived at the store to find that the glass of the front door had been smashed and an unknown subject (s) entered the store and removed a 52-inch plasma television and exited via the back door. The suspect (s) remain at large. Anyone with information regarding this case or similar cases is urged to contact the Manchester Detective Division at 668-8711 or the Manchester Police Crimeline at 624-4040.

On January 29, 2009 at approx. 2:00 AM Officers Derek Sullivan and Emmett Macken of the Street Crime Unit were patrolling the area of S. Beech St between S. Willow St and Loring St when they noticed a subject looking into parked vehicles. After making several observations the officers located a suspicious vehicle in the same area with three subjects in it. The officers approached the vehicle and identified the subjects as:

Luis Salas 17 yoa of Manchester

Edgar Ramirez Torres 19 yoa of Manchester

Edgar Cordoza 17 yoa of Manchester

Further investigation revealed that these subjects had broken into vehicles in the area taking stereo equipment and other electronic type of devices. The investigation as to how many vehicles were broken into and items taken is still underway.

All three subjects have been charged with Theft By Unauthorized Taking (misdemeanor)

On 01-28-09 at approximately 0150 hours Manchester Police officers responded to 123 Garden Drive for a reported fire in a common hallway.  When officers arrived they found an area in the first floor common hallway where there appeared to have been a small fire.  There was damage to the carpeting, wall, and wood trim.  A resident of the building found the fire and put it out with a container of water prior to the arrival of police and fire personnel. 

Based on interviews with residents and evidence found at the scene, the fire was deemed suspicious and will be further investigated by both the Manchester Police Department and the Manchester Fire Department.

At approximately 5:00 pm on January 27, 2009, Manchester Police officers responded to the area of Front St. and Dunbarton Rd. to investigate "erratic driving".  A concerned citizen had called Police reporting that he was following a vehicle on Front St. southerly toward Goffstown Rd.  This "good samaritan" had been following the suspicious vehicle for several miles and became concerned after observing the vehicle weaving and speeding as it traveled on Interstate 93 and eventually onto Front St.   

Officers responded to the area and stopped the vehicle in question on Goffstown Rd.  Following their investigation, the officers placed the driver under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (subsequent offense).  The arrested subject was identified as:

Michael R. Johnson DOB: 02-13-1961  7 Phoenix Dr. Kingston, NH

On 01-27-09 at approx. 12:25 AM Off Leshney observed a black Mazda traveling east on Prospect St. This vehicle failed to stop for stop signs on Prospect St at the intersections of Beech St and Maple St. Off. Leshney stopped this vehicle on Prospect St at Oak St. Once the Mazda was stopped Off Leshney observed the driver of the vehicle climb onto the back seat. The Officer then observed the female passenger move to the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Off. Leshney identified the original driver as Michael Matteuzzi 27 years old residing at 21 3 Walnut St, Manchester, NH. Upon conducting a license check of Matteuzzi Off. Leshney discovered that Matteuzzi is a certified Habitual Offender (Class B Felony). Matteuzzi was placed under arrest and charged as a Habitual Offender per NH RSA 262:23.

At approximately 5:47 pm, officers stopped a motor vehicle in the area of Elm St. and Sterling Ave.  The driver of the vehicle--James Kitchell DOB: 11-7-1982 was found to be in possession of marijuana.  He was arrested at the scene and charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug.

Saturday evening Officer todd Leshney went to Club Liquid to investigate a reported theft. The club's manager, Jan Dejesus, told Officer Leshney that at approximately 7:00 P.M. he noticed that over $6,800. was stolen from an office. This matter is currently under investigation. Anybody with information related this incident should contact the Manchester Police Department Detectives Division or Crime Line 624-4040.

Shortly after midnight Sunday morning Manchester Police officers responded to a burglary in progress call at an English Village Drive apartment complex. As Officer Kelly McKenney arrived she detained an intoxicated subject that was exiting the complex. The victim, while still on the telephone with the Manchester Police dispatchers, confirmed that the detained subject was in fact the suspect identified as Michael Hand 40 of Manchester.

The officers investigation revealed that Michael Hand went to the victims apartment to collect items that he stated belong to him. Hand, knowing that the victim was home and not answering the door, broke into the apartment by forcing the door. Michael Hand exited the victim's apartment without taking anything. Michael Hand was arrested and charged with burglary and being in violation of bail conditions.

A Concord man was arrested early Sunday morning after he refused to leave the Black Brimmer on Elm Street.

Shortly after midnight Sunday morning Officer Darren Murphy observed Black Brimmer staff escorting Patrick Austin 25 out of the business. Officer Murphy assisted the staff in Austin's removal and reported that Austin dragged his feet and would not willingly leave. Once outside Patrick Austin continued to create a disturbance and would not leave the area. Austin was then placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.
