On 12-28-08 at approximately 2:12 am Manchester Police patrol officers responded to WR Taverna, located at 201 Merrimack St, for a large fight. Upon arrival, officers found one individual inside the establishment who was suffering from lacerations to his nose. This individual was identified as Jonathan Roig 26 years of age. Roig was transported to an area hospital for treatment. An officer who responded to the hospital with Roig was alerted to two other individuals that were there being treated for similar injuries. It was then determined that these two individuals were also injured at WR Taverna. These other two individuals were identified as Juan Carlos Contreras 30 years of age and Gilberto Salas 22 years of age. Contreras was suffering from lacerations to the right side of his face and Salas had lacerations on both forearms and triceps. Information pertaining to the number of assailants and descriptions has not yet been established.

The cicumstances surrounding this matter remain under investigation by the Manchester Police Detective Division.

At approximately 1:15 AM Tuesday morning, Manchester Police patrol officers responded to 242 Beech St, the 7-11 store located at Beech and Valley Sts., for the report of an armed robbery. Officer Chris Biron spoke with the store clerk who stated that minutes earlier a subject had entered the store and robbed him at gunpoint. According to the store clerk, the subject ordered him to open the cash register and then dumped the contents of the register into a plastic bag. The subject then fled the store on foot with undetermined amount of cash. The subject was described as a white male, young (possibly in his teens), 5'5" tall with a thin build. The subject was last seen wearing a navy blue ski mask, tan winter coat, woolen gloves and denim jeans. The subject was armed with what appeared to be a black semiautomatic handgun.

At approximately 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, the Bank of America located at 728 Massabesic St was robbed. At that time a subject entered the bank, approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash. The teller turned over an undetermined amount of cash and the subject left the bank on foot. The subject is described as a white male in his mid thirties, 5'8" to 5'9" tall with a thin build. The subject was last seen wearing a black knit hat, a green winter jacket and black wire framed glasses.

Jimmy Muniz 27 of Manchester took off from officers in the alley behind 223 Green Street. Officer Dan Nolan and Sergeant Sean Leighton became suspicious when the car Miniz was driving attempted to make a U turn in the alley. When the officers attempted to speak to Muniz there was an odor of alcohol coming from the car and the rear bumper was hanging down and scraping the ground.

The Manchester Highway and Police Departments want to remind residents that their vehicles are subject to ticketing or towing during city declared snow emergencies. Snow emergencies are declared by the Public Works Director to enable plow operators to safely clear streets of snow. During a snow emergency, parking on all city streets is prohibited. During snow storms city residents should check local media  for information regarding snow emergencies. Also the city has installed flashing beacons with snow emergency warning signs on traffic light post at several major intersections around the city. When these beacons are flashing a snow emergency has been declared. Should a resident have any questions, regarding a snow emergency, they can call the Highway Department at 624-6444 or the Police Department at 668-8711.

If your vehicle is towed it will be brought to the city impound lot at Derryfield Park, located on Bridge St. The impound lot at the Westside Arena will not be used this year. The vehicle will be held at the lot for twenty four hours. The fee for getting your vehicle from impound, while it is at Derryfield park is $110.00. You must bring cash only, no checks or credit cards will be accepted. Vehicles not picked up, within 24 hours, will be moved to contractor tow yards for storage. These vehicles will be subject to additional towing and storage fees. If your vehicle is not towed you will receive a snow emergency parking ticket. The initial fine is $75.00. If the fine is not paid with in 7 days it will double to $150.00.

The city parking authority has two locations available for parking during snow emergencies. The first location is the Victory Parking Garage located at Chestnut and Amherst St. During snow emergencies city residents that do not have off street parking can park for free in the garage from 10 PM to 6AM.
