  Youth Programs Minimize
 
 
The Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Department offers a number of Youth Programs, some offered directly by the department, including Fun In The Sun, Summer Fun Run, Saturday Junior Basketball, and the Hershey Track Meet, and various Youth Sports Programs run by volunteers.


Fun In The Sun



The Fun In The Sun program is a summer day camp for Manchester residents ages 6 - 12.

Registration Date and Requirements:
Registration Date:  2010 dates To Be Determined  Must have birth certificate to register.
Youngsters MUST be 6 (Six) years of age to register.

Registration will take place at the site your child will attend.



Program Locations: JFK Memorial Coliseum, McIntyre Ski Area, Piscataquog River Park

Program Start Date: TBD

Program Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Summer Fun Run

Summer Fun Runs will run every Thursday  2010 Dates To Be Determined at the Gatsas Athletic Complex in Livingston Park. Registration begins at 5:15 PM, with events beginning at 6:00 PM.


Activities include:

Weeks 1, 3 & 5 Weeks 2 & 4
100 Meter Hurdle 300 Meter Hurdle
100 Meter Dash 50 Meter Dash
400 Meter 200 Meter
1600 Meter 800 Meter
Long Jump 3200 Meter
Shot Put Triple Jump
Relay High Jump

Saturday Junior Basketball


Saturday Junior Basketball is available to boys and girls who reside in Manchester. The program runs on Saturdays at Beech Street School.  There is no charge for this program and applications can be picked up at the school on Saturdays only while the program is running.  This year's start date is:  Saturday, December 19th, 2009, and the program will run through the first week of March.

This is not a basketball league with teams and standings it is simply a prgram that allows certain age groups  an hour and a half in the gym to shoot around or play pick up games.  The age breakdwon is as follows:


Age Group Time
7 - 8 year olds 9:00 am - 10:30 am
9 - 10 year olds 10:30 am - noon
11 - 12 year olds 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
13 years old - High School 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Hershey Track Meet

The Hershey track meet is for kids age 9-14 years old. There is no residency requirement providing that your town does not offer a meet.

Tryouts for the (31st) Annual Hershey Track Meet date is yet to be determined at Livingston Track. Registration is at 5:30 PM, with the actual meet beginning at 6:00 PM.
