What's New In Parking

The Parking Division is always working on something new.  This section of our site details some of the projects we have recently completed or are working on to improve access and parking in Manchester.

Central High School Parking Plan Approved

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen have approved the parking plan for Central High School, and the new program will go into effect for the 2010-2011 school year.  We are opening up over 100 parking spaces for use by residents and students, by removing no parking zones and time limits in many areas.  We have also established a residential permit parking zone, and there will be some spaces available just for residents during school hours.

If you are a resident near Central High School and interested in getting a free residential parking permit, please contact the Ordinance Violations Bureau at (603) 624-6546 for additional information.  For a map of the approved changes, please click on the following link, which will take you to a Google Map showing all of the details of the changes:

Downtown Parking Shuttle - It's Here!

The Parking Division has teamed with the Manchester Transit Authority to implement a free downtown shuttle service.  This service is available to the public, and is designed to provide better mobility between parking facilities and workplaces during morning and evening commutes as well as encourage people to get out and about during lunchtime.

The shuttle runs from 7am-6pm Monday through Friday with 10 minute service in the mornings, evenings and lunchtime.  In between these times, the shuttle runs every 20 minutes.

In Vehicle Parking Meters

Tired of climbing snowbanks?  Worried about whether or not you have enough quarters?  Did you put in more money than you needed?  How about running back and forth from your car to the parking meter in the rain?

Then the iPark may be the right tool for you.  The In Vehicle Parking Meter works much like the EZPass system.  You set up an account online or at the Parking Division office, purchase a meter for $25 (it comes with $10 in free parking on it) and use it to pay instead of feeding the parking meter.  Simply turn it on, select the correct parking zone, press "P" to start a parking session and display the meter in your car.  You only pay for time you use and you don't have to guess at how long you'll be - the meter keeps running until either you get back to the vehicle and turn it off or the time limit has been reached.
