What do I do if my garbage cart is damaged?
Each garbage cart is under warranty for 10 years from the date of purchase. You may bring your damaged cart to the Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road. We have replacement lids, axles and wheels and lid pins. If the whole cart is damaged, you will receive a replacement.
Where do I get a garbage cart?
You may purchase either a 95 gallon ($60) or 65 gallon ($47) cart at our Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road. We accept cash or check only at this time.
How do I dispose of fluorescent lightbulbs?
Never place fluorescent lightbulbs in the regular trash. These should be disposed of during one of our Household Hazardous Waste Days that are held the second Saturday in May and October. Please click here for further information. Also, all Home Depot stores accept unbroken compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFL's). Just put them in a plastic bag, bring to your nearest Home Depot and drop in the collection box.
How do I dispose of propane tanks?
These may be brought to the Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road. There is a $5 per tank charge and you will need a permit. Small 1 lb. tanks used for camping and table top grills may be disposed of in your regular trash as long as they are completely empty.
How do I dispose of used batteries (household, auto/marine or rechargeable)?
Household batteries may be disposed of during one of our Household Hazardous Waste Days held the second Saturday in May and October. Auto/marine batteries and rechargeable batteries may be brought to our Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road free of charge.
How do I dispose of an air conditioner?
These can be brought to our Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road for a fee of $15 or you can schedule a curbside pick up for a fee of $25. For pick up, you must pre-purchase a sticker from the Highway Department at 228 Maple Street. Once you purchase the sticker, we will arrange for a pick up.
How do I dispose of oil based paint or stain?
This should be brought to one of our Household Hazardous Waste Days and never put in the trash, poured down a kitchen or bathroom drain, dumped on the ground or poured down a street drain. We hold two Household Hazardous Waste Days a year - the second Saturday in May and October.
How do I dispose of fire extinguishers?
These may be brought to our Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road. There is no charge, however, you need a permit.
How do I dispose of latex paint?
Remove the cover, add a drying agent, let dry and dispose of in your regular trash (do not put cover back on).
How do I dispose of a TV, computer monitor, CPU or other electronics?
These items may be brought to our Drop Off Facility free of charge. You will need to show proof of residency.
How do I dispose of tires?
You may bring up to four residential tires to the Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road. They must be off the rim. If you have commercial tires, you will be charged $2/each. In either case, you will need a permit.
What do I do with trash from a home construction project?
Residents may take construction and demolition debris (C&D) to the Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road. We DO NOT pick up C&D curbside. A permit is required ($5 annually) and every load is weighed ($0.075/lb.).
