The Training Division is responsible for the development and scheduling of training for
all firefighters within the city. Firefighting is an occupation that requires constant reviewing
and enhancement of skills. The Training Division must be aware of new developments and
technology in firefighting as well as emergency medical treatment in order to provide the
most current training available.

The Training Division has numerous other responsibilities as well:

• Filing of all the necessary licensing paperwork for each of the 200 plus firefighters.
• Coordination of the entire Recruit School Program.
• Initiates classes of interest among fire personnel, Fire Service Instructor, Leadership, Hazardous Materials.
• Plans, coordinates and maintains all refresher training for firefighters throughout their career.
