  1918 City Directory Minimize

PINE ISLAND PARK (postcard donated by D. Joachim)

In 1918 the City of Manchester had a population of over 70,000 people. The City Directory listed the name of a citizen(usually male), the name of the spouse (if married), the occupation and the place of residence. The directory states "for the year ending November 1918". In all likelihood, the enumeration took place at the end of 1917 and the beginning of 1918. Individuals serving in World War I are
featured with the armed services division they had enlisted under.

The Manchester City Directory for 1918 is a transcription from an original copy. The entries have been abbreviated due to space considerations. After the name of a street, the word "street" has been omitted.

When a death date is given, this does not mean the death occurred in Manchester. To request information on a specific death, please write a letter to the Office of the City Clerk and remit a $12.00 money order or a check drawn on a New Hampshire, payable to the City of Manchester. Mail your request to:
