Downloadable Documents
|
Most documents are provided in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. We recommend obtaining the latest free Acrobat Reader for best results. Information on how to get this is available on our downloads page.
Many of these documents are large in size, and may take several minutes to completely download if you use a modem for Internet access. Often, the first page of a document will display quickly but subsequent pages may appear blank - this is normal, and the fix is to wait for the document to finish downloading.

Printing Pages
|
Many users report that when printing pages in portrait orientation, the extreme right edge of the page is cut off.
For this reason, we recommend using either the 'Print Page' button found at the top and bottom of each City page or selecting that pages be printed using landscape orientation under 'File -> Page Setup'. Printing in landscape page orientation should allow you to see the entire width of pages including site navigation and content. The 'Print Page' button provides users with a printer-friendly version of the page content only. If neither option is possible, please adjust your browser's print margins to be as small as possible (maximizing page print area). You may have to experiment with these options to find the best setting.

Site Layout and Common Features

Most pages are formatted into the following sections (from top to bottom):- Page header graphic
- Primary navigation bar - this is the same for all pages
- Breadcrumbs bar - shows a site by site path from the home page level
- Left navigation - a vertical bar on the left side of the page
- Page content area - to the immediate right of the left navigation
- Page footer bar - same for all pages
A primary goal of this site's design is to provide for easy access to information without having to know in advance which department or office provides that information. The main links found on the home page and in every primary navigation bar - Living Here, City Government, Doing Business, and Leisure - offer various paths to drill down to find the information you are looking for. You can also use our site search, found on the home page and in both the primary and footer navigation bars.

Site Navigation

Another goal of this site is to provide a consistent look and feel to all pages, which makes browsing the site easier. Once you become familiar with the page layout, navigating this site requires little effort.
The left navigation bar will change as you browse the site, based on the context of the page displayed and on the sub-site where that page is located.
Most pages will provide the following common items as the bottom-most links in the left navigation bar:- FAQ - Frequently-Asked Questions
- Contact Us - address, mailing information, phone, fax, and email
- [dept] Home - links to the home page of this department's site
External links to other web sites will open in a new browser window, so that you don't lose your place on the City's web site.
