On June 6, 2009 at approximately 1:20 a.m. Detective Timothy Craig was working an extra uniformed detail at the Vine Street parking garage when he witnessed a shooting. Club Liquid, 23 Amherst Street, is required to hire a detail officer for inside of its premise, as well as a uniformed officer inside of the parking garage due to past incidents.
Just prior to the shooting, two fights had broken out inside of the parking garage. As Detective Craig was approaching one fight, he observed a man, who was later identified as Lawrence Moore (25) of 32 Silver Street #2, Quincy, MA, shoot another man who was attempting to get up from the ground. Detective Craig drew his service weapon and ordered Moore to stop. Moore failed to comply and ran from the parking garage as Detective Craig and other officers who had arrived gave chase. Moore was eventually arrested a couple of blocks east of the garage. A subsequent investigation revealed that the motive for the shooting was the robbery of the victim’s gold chains.
The victim was identified as Devine Ross (28) of Lake Ave, Manchester. Ross was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the upper left thigh.
A related arrested was also made. Dashaun Goldsmith of 23 Vershire Street #1, W. Roxbury, MA. Goldsmith is an associate of Moore, who during the assault of Ross attempted to stab Devine Ross’ brother, Kyshan Ross of Hanover Street, Manchester. Kyshan had responded to the aid of his brother when Goldsmith confronted him with a knife and in doing so attempted to stab Kyshan. Goldsmith was arrested by officers on Elm Street in a vehicle as he fled the scene.
Lawrence Moore (25)
Lawrence Moore has been charged with:
First Degree Assault
Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Possession of Stolen Property (a firearm)
Dashaun Goldsmith (23)
Dashaun Goldsmith has been charged with:
Criminal Threatening (felony)
The investigation is still in the prelimary stages, so additional charges may be brought against one or both of these individuals. Manchester police detectives ask those witnesses who were in the parking garage at the time of the incident to contact them at 668-8711 or through Manchester Crimeline at 624-4040. It is believed that many people witnessed the incident but left the area prior to being interviewed by police. Detective Patrick Houghton (ext. 397) and Detective Michael Bergeron (ext. 450) are heading the investigation.
