Manchester Police Officers were called to 430 Cartier St. around 10:30 Friday night for a report of a Domestic Disturbance. After speaking with the female victim, the officers determined that Gerald Howard age 33 was to be arrested for Assault. They soon located Howard inside of his vehicle, backing out of the garage. It was at that point that Officer Justin Maguire opened the passenger door, identified himself as a Police Officer, and shouted for Howard to "stop". Instead of stopping, Howard sped forward and briefly dragged the officer down the street. The officer was able to jump free from the vehicle before suffering serious injury as the vehicle sped away, nearly striking another officer who had responded to assist.
Suspect Howard drove away from the area, but was soon located near Parkside Ave. by other responding Police Officers who initiated a motor vehicle stop. Howard struggled with the officers as they attempted to arrest him, but he was eventually taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters to face multiple charges.
