Summer 2013 Youth Fun Runs at Livingston Park 5/8/2013 8:47:00 AM

The City of Manchester is excited to announce the continuation of the Summer "Fun-Run" program at the Gatsas Athletic Complex Track in Livingston Park.  This program is FREE to Manchester Youth!  Fun Runs will take place on Thursday evenings at 5:15pm, starting on June 27 and continuing through the July 25.  There will be NO events taking place on Thursday, July 4th.  Kids can try their skills at the following events:  50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put and relays!  This a great way to make new friends, get some physical activity and learn more about track and field.   Any further questions about these summer programs should be directed to the Program Director, Brenda Dwyer at 603-624-6444 x5349 or bdwyer@manchesternh.gov.

Emerald Ash Borer - Quarantine Notification 4/12/2013 10:01:00 AM

The State of New Hampshire recently confirmed that the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), an invasive insect from Asia that has killed millions of ash trees nationwide, has been found in an ash tree in Concord, NH.  In an effort to limit the spread of this insect, the State has issued a quarantine on the movement of ash materials coming out of and through Merrimack County.

More Spring Activity Announcements from Parks & Rec! 3/29/2013 4:06:00 PM

We are excited to announce that the Derryfield Country Club will be OPENING for the seaon TOMORROW, Saturday March 30 for 9 holes (no carts).  Dust off those clubs, polish your shoes, iron your polos and be the first on the tee tomorrow at 7am.  Maximize the most of your season by purchasing a membership - we have great rates for all ages.  Contact the DCC at 669-0235 for additional information or visit on the web at http://.derryfieldgolf.com.  See you on the course!

Keep your New Years Resolution to get fit going by joining in our Walk for Your Health program!  Walk for Your Health is a walking group of great people of all ages who enjoy getting out in the fresh air, exercising and meeting new people.  Walks take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9am starting on Monday, April 8.  The walks will continue each week until June 14, 2014.  The first three walking sessions are approximately 3 miles long and will depart from the Dorr's Pond Warming Hut located in the heart of Livingston Park on D.W. Highway (across from the Puritan Back Room Restaurant).  Future walks will progress to 4 miles in length and will begin from various locations in the City.  During inclement weather, walks will be held at the Mall of New Hampshire.  The entire spring schedule will be available on April 1, 2013 on the Walk for Your Health webpage.  We welcome everyone to participate, but please remember to wear firm, comfortable footwear and loose, comfortable clothing.  There will be a one-time $3.00 registration fee to help defray some of the program's expenses.  For additional information, please contact us at Parks and Rec.
