SWEENEY PARK

 

Location: Off of South Main Street

History of Sweeney Park researched and written by: Syed A. from Manchester Memorial High School Class of 2011.

Sweeney Park is located in Manchester’s west side on South Main St. This park’s amenities include a memorial, a children’s playground, as well as a basketball court. The park was named Sweeney Park to commemorate Private Henry John Sweeney; the first soldier to die from Manchester, NH during World War I. Pvt. Henry Sweeney was killed in action on February 13, 1918 at Soissons, France. 

Amenities:  Baseball diamond, playground and a basketball court.
