Employment Process

The City of Manchester is a dynamic major population center in Southern New Hampshire experiencing growth in new businesses, commercial and residential development, educational opportunities and cultural diversity. As an employer, Manchester provides a wide range of attractive employment opportunities providing public service to the residents of the City.

All open positions are posted on the Jobs page of the City website, and at the Human Resources Department in the City Hall Annex. Most posted positions will have a closing date, after which applications will not be accepted.

Applications can be downloaded in PDF format (click here for a free download of the Adobe Acrobat Reader), or obtained at the Human Resources Department. Due to the number of applications for most positions, it is not possible to acknowledge receipt of submitted applications.

All applications for open, posted positions are reviewed in Human Resources. Complete applications (i.e. all required information has been provided) of those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the position will be referred to the hiring department when the application period has closed. Those candidates considered by the hiring department to be the best qualified will be contacted for further consideration. All contact at this point will come from the hiring department.
