Division Responsibility
The Facilities Division is a service-oriented organization. It is organized into four main groups, Administrative, Custodial, Maintenance, and Construction.
The Administration group ensures the division functions as a cohesive and effective team. It is the glue that keeps everything flowing within the division. Major responsibilities include, all accounting and clerical support duties, computerized work order processing, and energy consumption data compilation.
The Custodial group is responsible for custodial, grounds maintenance, and pest control.
The Maintenance group is the core that keeps our buildings operational day to day. They are skilled in maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, plumbing, air conditioning, and electrical systems. A key focus is routine inspection and maintenance of Life Safety systems. These include sprinklers, generators, and egress maintenance that provide a safe environment for City employees, students, teachers, and the citizens of Manchester.
The Construction group is responsible for coordinating and administering major capital improvement contracts of City buildings and planning for future needs. This team spends a considerable amount of time on regulatory compliance. The City has a myriad of regulations that need to be managed; they include AHERA, underground storage tank inspections and the like.
