Sediment Sample Analysis
Maxwell Pond sediment core samples showed elevated levels of chromiun, copper, lead, manganese, mercury, nickel and zinc. All of these metals exceeded the “lowest effects level” but not the “severe effects level” criteria for aquatic organisms. The pesticide DDT constituent, p,p’-DDE also exceeded the “lowest effects level” for aquatic organisms. These levels were expected considering the amount of parking lot runoff Black Brook receives.
