Manchester’s City Master Plan Update in Progress
Manchester’s Master Plan is a legal document upon which land use zoning is based. Also known as a comprehensive plan, it frames the changes that the City needs and wants to make for the future it desires. It envisions what kinds of development can take place in what parts of town, essentially shaping the character of the City. Last completed in 1993, it is time to update our vision for the next 10 to 20 years of our future.
A Steering Committee established by the Planning Board began working with Planning and Community Development Department staff in March 2006 to guide our updating process. Members of these two groups have met with community members and received input through a City survey website. This information is helping to determine the priorities that City stakeholders want to address to make Manchester an increasingly desirable place to live and do business.
We are now in the process of assimilating the input we have received to determine objectives and strategies. Our top issues fall into eight categories. You are invited to review our working lists of issues and topics and submit your comments on them.
The possibilities that these items present paint a future Manchester that is increasingly vibrant and walkable as a healthy place to live, work and play.
