| Mayor Frank C. Guinta |
|
Frank Guinta was born in Edison, N.J., on Sept. 26, 1970, the son of Richard and Virginia Guinta. He is a graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in politics and philosophy. He also graduated from Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, N.H., where he received his Masters degree in intellectual property.
Guinta has a strong and diverse background in New Hampshire public service. In 2000, he was elected to the first of two terms to the New Hampshire Legislature. A year later, Guinta was elected Ward 3 Alderman, representing Manchester’s downtown, which he also served two terms.

During his tenure as Alderman, and as a board member of Manchester Neighborhood Housing Services (now NeighborWorks), Guinta worked closely with downtown residents and business owners around neglected areas to make them the vibrant, economic driving force they are today. Meanwhile, as a legislator, he specialized in veteran’s initiatives and municipal issues, which gave him the background in community and state finances.
Since being elected mayor in 2005, Guinta has commenced many initiatives. One of particular importance to him – and to many in the city – is the plight of Manchester’s neighborhoods. In October 2006, he announced a six-point neighborhood revitalization plan, which included a focus on public safety, housing, neighborhood enhancement, economic development, education and youth services. Also in 2006, Guinta also proposed the first budget with a tax decrease in nearly a decade.

Guinta’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. In 2001, Frank and his wife, Morgan, were honored in the first year of the New Hampshire Union Leader’s "40 Under Forty" award, which notes exceptional accomplishment of people under the age of 40. Frank and Morgan are the only husband-and-wife couple to receive the honor. In January 2006, Business NH Magazine cited Frank as an "intriguing leader" in its "Powerful People" issue and, in January 2007, named him one of the 10 most powerful people in New Hampshire.
In addition to his busy schedule as mayor, Guinta serves on several boards and commissions including Intown Manchester, Inc., SEE Science Center, Hands Across the Merrimack, Inc. and A Way To A Better Living, Inc.
Guinta met his wife, Morgan, while both were students at Assumption. They are the parents of two children. |
