Because Manchester's yard waste is recycled through composting, contaminated materials will be tagged and left at the curb.
Examples of contaminants are cans and bottles, plastic mulch bags, trash (garbage, food waste, household refuse of any kind), lumber, metals of any kind, etc.
YARD WASTE CAN ALSO BE DISPOSED OF AT THE DROP OFF FACILITY AT 500 DUNBARTON ROAD AT A CHARGE OF 7.5 CENTS/POUND.

SPRING CLEANUP April 7 through May 16(WEEKLY PICKUP) Same day of week as usual recycling collection.
MID SEASON May 19 through October 17(EVERY OTHER WEEK PICKUP) Collected by separate truck on usual recycling day.
FALL CLEANUP October 20 through November 29 (WEEKLY PICKUP) Same day of week as usual recycling collection.
CHRISTMAS TREES January 8, 2008 through January 16, 2009 (WEEKLY PICKUP) Same day as usual recycling collection.

REVIEW OF YARD WASTE COLLECTION GUIDELINES: By State of New Hampshire and City regulations, there is a mandatory separation of organic yard waste materials from regular garbage or rubbish. They may not be placed in the same container for collection.
Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, weeds, hedge trimmings, garden wastes, and twigs and brush no larger than 3 inches in diameter and 3 feet in length.
Approved Containers Are: Maximum 33 gallon barrels, clearly marked with approved Official Yard Waste sticker, not to exceed 75 pounds, fully loaded. Biodegradable paper yard waste bags available in local stores. Absolutely No Plastic Bags.
Loose brush must be tied up into manageable bundles for collection. Maximum dimensions of bundles are 3' long by 2' wide. Yard waste must be curbside by 7:00 AM. Official City of Manchester Yard Waste stickers are available at the Highway /Department at 227 Maple Street in Manchester, or at the Drop-Off Facility on Dunbarton Road.
Christmas trees are usually collected during the first and second weeks of January. (WEEKLY PICKUP) Christmas trees are only collected during these two weeks, which gives residents two opportunities to have their trees collected. No plastic bags, decorations, tinsel, tree stands, etc. will be picked up. No artificial trees.
